Research for a smaller dog breed ultimately led me to the Lagotto Romagnolo and eventually Queensland, Australia, where
with the help of Rena Henderson, we facilitated the adoption and importation of Azzuronastro Aust CH Francesca.
Frankie, our Lagotto, is easy to love..That's the best way to say it...She is sweet and loves to be around people. Francesca
came to us at 14 months and she received her Championship just before she arrived-- an amazing feat for her age, which only
gives testament to how smart she is and how well she responded to Rena (and company's) excellent handling. She loves to go
for walks and swims in the water with enthusiasm.
 Favorite games...retreiving toys thrown on land or water and her new game is to not only retrieve, but to find the toy
I have carefully hidden with her powerful truffle hunting nose. OK, so she has never seen a real truffle, but she loves the
game just the same and is getting so smart that she finds all my best hiding places. It is getting increasingly more difficult
to hide the toy from her. I have sometimes hidden other toys as well, so she knows she must get the "correct" toy. Frankie
LOVES snow!!! In the winter she loves to stick her nose- if not her whole head, under the snow and push it around-- like she
is swimming in it...It looks so funny!!! One thing is for certain, a Lagotto's antics will often make you laugh.
 The Lagotto coat is best described as lush, thick and curly. It's softness was one of the most surprising things for me
about Lagotto. Not only will this coat not scratch your delicate face, it is also hyper allergenic. Also, Lagotto will not
ruin your expensive clothing with dog hair that refuses to come off. Though non shedding, if they are not brushed, they will
leave around the house-- what my grandmother used to call "minou's" (dust balls). A small price.
People who have contacted me have told me, that since they have discovered Lagotto, they have become obsessed. I felt the
same way.
Here are some of the reasons why Lagotto puppies are so easy to fall in love with--
Lagotto :
- Are hypoallergenic
- Have a thick, curly coat which is unbeliebably soft, fairly easy to care for and does not shed
- Have a gentle disposition
- Are extremely intelligent and easy to train
- Love to swim (even in colder climates), play games and look for things
